2022 Virtual Youth Recognition Ceremonies

Registration is now open for the provincial 2022 Virtual Youth Recognition Ceremonies on May 25th, 2022!

Unit Contact Guiders: Please complete the NL Youth Recognition Ceremony Registration form to register your award recipients.

You will need the youth member's name, iMIS number and a photograph (if Image Release consent is given in iMIS and they are comfortable sharing). The deadline to submit information is Sunday, May 15. However, please submit the information as early as possible. All awards submitted through this form will be added to the youth members' iMIS records.

We are also looking for content from our youth members! Please share the information below with your youth members, and encourage their participation:

  • Share what Guiding means to you:
    The Provincial Youth Awards ceremony is looking for creative Guides, Pathfinders, and Rangers to create a poem, song or video that can be shared at our 2022 virtual ceremonies. Creations should reflect your time in your branch of Guiding and/or what it means to you. Creations can be done individually, in small groups, or with your whole unit! Send submissions to nl-specialevents@girlguides.ca. One submission from each branch will be selected to be shared during the 2022 Youth Awards ceremonies on May 25. The deadline for submissions is May 15.
  • Land acknowledgement readers needed:
    Did you write a land acknowledgement as part of your ReconciliACTIONs with your unit or on your own this year? Maybe you have a land acknowledgement that you want to share! The Provincial Youth Awards ceremony is looking for a Guide, a Pathfinder, and a Ranger to give the land acknowledgement at our 2022 Provincial Youth Awards ceremonies. If you're interested, please send an expression of interest email to nl-specialevents@girlguides.ca no later than May 15.

The Girl Guides of Canada - Newfoundland and Labrador Council is pleased to present the 2022 Virtual Youth Recognition Ceremony on May 25th, 2022.

We welcome award recipients, parents, guardians, Guiders, trefoil members, and other Guiding volunteers from all areas of the province. You can choose to attend just one or up to all three ceremonies. Come celebrate the achievements of our youth members!

Schedule:

  • 6:30-7:30 p.m. NDT: Guides Award Ceremony
  • 7:30-8:30 p.m. NDT: Pathfinders Award Ceremony
  • 8:30-9:30 p.m. NDT: Rangers Award Ceremony

To register for these virtual events, please complete the NL Youth Recognition Ceremony Registration form. Registration closes on Sunday, May 15.

Provincial 'Indigenous Spirit' Youth Award

At Girl Guides of Canada, we are taking steps towards reconciliation together.  Newfoundland and Labrador council has developed this award to recognize the efforts of outstanding Indigenous youth members of our organization. Awards will be given annually to one member in each of the following branch groups: Sparks/Brownies, Guides/Pathfinders, and Rangers.

The award will be presented annually at the Provincial Annual General Meeting. The award consists of a certificate, crest, and monetary prize.

All 2022 nominations are due by Friday, April 8.

NL Ranger Award

Girl Guides of Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Council has developed the following criteria to recognize the efforts of an outstanding youth member of the organization.

The nominee will have many of the following characteristics:

  • Shows leadership among their peers and in the community
  • Acts as a role model for their peers and for younger girls
  • Actively provides service in their community
  • Lives by the Guiding Promise and Law
  • The NL Provincial Ranger Award is presented annually at the Provincial Annual General Meeting.  

All 2022 nominations are due by Friday, April 8.

Kay Penney "Love of Guiding" Provincial Award

Girl Guides, Newfoundland and Labrador Council, has developed this award to commemorate the four-year term of our past Provincial Commissioner, Kay Penney. This award recognizes the efforts of an outstanding girl or youth member who exemplifies a true love of Guiding.

The award recipient will be announced at the provincial Annual General Meeting. The award will consist of a framed certificate for the award recipient and a perpetual plaque for GGCNL provincial office.

All 2022 nominations are due by Friday, April 8.
