Provincial Challenges

Challenges have been developed as a way to broaden a girl's appreciation for and knowledge of current topics of interest or concern, celebrations, the environment, different cultures, music and arts, and more.

Newfoundland and Labrador Challenges
NL Membership Challenge - Growing a Great Guiding Community
Fit for Life Challenge
Water for the Decade Challenge - This decade-long challenge came to a close in 2015 however there are still some crests available from Provincial Office. If you choose to complete this challenge you may wish to contact the office first to ensure enough crests are available for your Unit.

National Challenges: There are lots of challenges available on the National site. Most of them will cover program activities as well. Find them here (MemberZone log-in required).

Don't miss the new National Service Project! The National Service Project (NSP) is a nationwide challenge focused on providing service and giving members an opportunity to live out our Mission together of making a difference in the world. The first NSP was launched in 2010 and drew inspiration from the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goal (MDG) 1: Eradicate Extreme Poverty and Hunger. Each of the subsequent NSP’s has focused on a universal issue: MDG 3: Promote Gender Equality and Empower Women, MDG 7: Ensure Environmental Sustainability, MDG 2: Achieve Universal Primary Education (focused on literacy). With the end of the Millennium Development Goals, we are now turning our attention to the United Nation’s new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and aligning with SDG 1 – End Poverty in All Its Forms Everywhere. GGC will contribute towards this goal by addressing poverty in Canada. Learn more about our new NSP: Action on Poverty

Provincial Challenges, other provinces: Other provinces have developed interesting and fun challenges. From the GGC home page , go to "Join Us" and then to "Provincial Contacts" to find the provincial web sites. Note that you will usually find ordering information for crests in the challenges section.

WAGGGS Challenges: The WAGGGS site offers many resources and challenges to enhance your unit’s program.  Find them here

Duke of Edinburgh's Award: Not a GGC challenge but our programs fit well into the Duke of E requirements; your Ranger unit may support this award in its activities. Visit the web page

Religion in Life Challenge: An important part of the program is to assist in the spiritual growth of each girl in their own religious community. Girl Guides of Canada and Scouts Canada uphold the principle that specific religious instruction is the responsibility of parents and religious authorities.  The program is available for all levels of Guiding and follows the same program as Boy Scouts of Canada.  Information is available here. Crests can be ordered through Scouts Canada.
