Twinning

Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada’s Twinning Program is an international community development and educational program which links Guiding Members in Canada with Guide Associations in developing countries. GGC has supported Twinning projects in more than 25 countries, helping to improve the quality of life for women and girls, along with their families and communities. Every Twinning project is a little different but each one offers Canadian Guiding members the opportunity to learn about another country, culture and Guiding program!

Twinning 2020 - Amigas del Mundo: Connect, Grow, Impact!

Questions? Contact ggcnltwinning2020@gmail.com

The Twinning 2020 initiative “Amigas del Mundo: Connect, Grow, Impact”  will support girls in creating international friendships with their Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting sisters while participating in cross-cultural learning opportunities to enhance their global perspective. Through twinning activities, girls will have the opportunity to understand their role in the larger world and become informed and responsible global citizens.

We are excited to be paired with our sister Girl Guides from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island, and with the Girl Guides Association of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Our vision is to connect girls, celebrate our cultures, and foster a shared sisterhood!

About Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is an island country, which lies at the southern end of the eastern border of the Caribbean Sea, close to the Atlantic Ocean.  The country consists of the main island of Saint Vincent and the northern two-thirds of the Grenadines (32 islands), which are a chain of smaller islands stretching south from Saint Vincent Island to Grenada. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has a population of approximately 120,000. It’s capital is Kingstown on Saint Vincent island.

The Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) Girl Guides Association is the largest non-profit organizations in the country, totaling approximately 2500 members.

The Guiding Levels are:

  • Bim Bims (Age 5-7 years)
  • Brownies (Age 7-11 years)
  • Girl Guides (Age 10-16 years)
  • Ranger Guides (Age 15-21 years)

Fun Fact: One of the favorite activities of SVG Girl Guides is Grenadines Island hopping – a 1-day event where they take a charter boat from island to island, completing a series of activities and adventures.
